30 EPFalsely Branded-The Evil Mother‑In‑Law
I arrived to meet my son Evan Lin’s girlfriend Yvonne Tang, carrying a bag with a property deed and gold bracelets. Before I could even sit down, she tearfully declared she’d never leave Evan — not even if I slapped an $8 million check in her face. In her eyes, I was already the evil rich mother-in-law trying to buy her off. She leaked a secretly recorded video online to stir up hate against me. Her mother Camille Tang showed up at my door, demanding I sign a “confession statement”. She played the victim on live streams, dragged my community senior meal center into the scandal, and filed a false report with a forged volunteer record to frame me for running a “greedy fake charity”. Even my son shifted from “she’s just too sensitive” to “Mom, can you just tough it out a little?” But I will never admit to something I didn’t do. I laid out every piece of evidence: account books, security footage, receipts, audio recordings. When the truth came out, Yvonne and Camille’s whole charade collapsed. She was disciplined by her university, permanently blacklisted from her internship, publicly shunned by everyone around her. I took back the shop property I’d already put in her name, and every last bit of goodwill I’d had for my would-be daughter-in-law. The lights are still on at the senior cafeteria; the elders still wait for their dinner. Some cried, some apologized, some left. As for me? I keep cooking, keep serving. Wealth or poverty never defines character — your actions do.
