My Grandma Is the Last Superhero

Modern-day major American city. Five years ago, a mysterious event called "The Vanishing" caused all superheroes worldwide to disappear in the same instant—all except one. 85-year-old former superhero Edna was the only survivor. The government classified her as a "top-secret asset," forbidding anyone from knowing the planet's only protector was a wrinkled old lady. Edna was forced into retirement, living as a "nanny" at her 25-year-old granddaughter's house, secretly protecting the city. But Edna had a secret only she and Agent Finch knew: her powers were tied to her vitality—every time she went all out, her body aged irreversibly. Five years ago she could fight for three days straight without catching her breath; now after every transformation her knees ached too badly to walk, her hands shook too much to hold a teacup, new wrinkles appeared at the corners of her eyes. She was trading her life for time. And the monsters knew the heroes were gone—they were coming back. Five years ago, a mysterious event called "The Vanishing" made all superheroes worldwide vanish in the same second. Only one protector remained in the world—85-year-old Edna Walker, code name Titaness. Edna lived as "Grandma" at her 25-year-old granddaughter Stella's house, making pumpkin pies and reading newspapers by day, sneaking out to fight monsters at night. But her powers were bound to her life force—every punch was irreversibly accelerating her aging. She tracked her decline in a worn little notebook: grip strength dropping, joints swelling, combat effectiveness falling from a peak of 71% down to 58%. She was trading her life for time, and time was running out. Rhys, the mysterious new neighbor next door, was a government-made artificial superhuman sent to find the last hero. His powers were also consuming him—and making things more complicated, he'd fallen in love with Stella, but his racing heartbeat was killing him. When the mastermind behind "The Vanishing," The Architect, returned, publicly humiliated Edna's aging across the city, exposed Stella's identity, and vowed to shatter her in Edna's own living room—an 85-year-old grandma, a crumbling artificial superman, and an ordinary girl with a cane stood at their own front door against the whole darkness. And the silver light flickering in Stella's palm hinted at a truth more terrifying than battle—her father had been killed by the very same power.
