Forsaken Son Rise of the War God At six years old, Kael was already blessed with godlike strength, powerful enough to shake mountains with his bare hands. Fearing that the gods would grow jealous of her son, his mother, Lyra, the High Priestess, carved a blood seal into his chest to hide his true power.Twelve years later, Kael has become the despised “bastard” of Sparta’s ruling household, mocked and humiliated by everyone around him.Everything changes when the Persian envoy Xerion arrives in Sparta with the giant warrior Urag, demanding the city-state’s surrender and claiming Selene, the granddaughter of the High Elder, as his prize. When Aristos falls in battle and Sparta is plunged into despair, Kael finally stops hiding.Golden flames ignite in his eyes as he leaps into battle, rescues Selene, slays Urag, and kills Xerion before the entire city. In a single moment, the outcast bastard becomes the warrior Sparta is willing to follow.Enraged by the death of his envoy, King Xerxes personally leads a massive Persian army toward Sparta. With war closing in, Kael marches to Thermopylae at the head of three hundred Spartan warriors, ready to face an empire.
